Day 1 - Alice to Stuart Wells. 93km (not quite a century or 100kms but tomorrow's leg is just over 100km) mild to heavy headwind and 29 -33°c. I can totally understand why people like to do these trips w assistance vehicles and in groups or pelatons where you can swap riding up front and shield others from the wind. You can go faster and further in a day. But there's something special about it being just you, a tool kit, 15-20 litres of water and your favourite tunes.

Got over 160km (outside of training) in on this bike since landing, which I pretty well built for this trip from the frame up, w tougher components and brakes. It's running really smoothly. So a bit more confident.

Felt pretty good today, until the last 10kms which nearly killed me. 😉
